My husband has a collage degree and his plant closed down in Aug 2007 and it took him till Dec. 2007 to find a good job that went with his collage degree he is now a supervisor and very happy! As far as the job finding it is hard because of the economey!

It took me eight months…It is very hard…however, stop looking in the classified…only about 20% of all jobs are originated that way. Go to the place of employment, or the best way, know someone who works in the industry to give you a rec.

Unemployement rate is 5% so it will be hard to find a good paying job right now. You might have to start at a level entry position. Try government jobs like the post office. They hire supervisors and managers from the street. If you have a clean record then try postal police or inspectors.

Approximately 3 mos. The reason why job hunting is difficult is due to the economy, I think we are slowly but surely following into a recession, possibly another Great Depression… main reason is that jobs are being outsourced to other countries where cost for labor & manufacturing is cheaper.

the reason job finding is so hard is because it takes time to figure out what you want to do .. or if you are a picky person and wont do some types of jobs then you are limited and if you are nervous about meeting new ppl and takeing interviews then you are just s.o.l

1 day. Finding a job is not that hard, but people try to be way to choosy. I have several years in a completely non related field to truck driving, but I needed a job and was not willing to make someone else support me while I found one in my field of expertise.
I instead enrolled in truck driving school and started a new career path. It hasn’t always been easy, but there are thousands of driving jobs that can’t be filled due to not enough people who are willing to do it.
Therefore, I am fairly unsympathetic to people who whine that it is so hard!

maybe you should check in to a temp agency. it could lead to something permanent.

I think cause most employers want someone with experience. Does your college have any job fairs for new graduates? If so, the employers that come to those fairs are usually looking for young, fresh inexperienced meat. Or, if your willing to move, look for jobs in fast growing cities like Charlotte NC, Austin TX or Jacksonville FL. More businesses, more jobs. Good Luck

It really helps having contacts… its almost impossible to get the ‘perfect job’ you want right after collage, especially if you don’t have a masters because a bachelors degree is pretty much useless. Whether your looking for fun odd jobs or an actual career your best bet is to get to know the people involved in or are part of the company and START NETWORKING! when you know the inside people or just in friendly terms with them, you will know about a position once it becomes available. I took a workshop on it apparently more then 80% of employers give jobs to people they know of because someone put in a good word. And they almost never bother going through online resumes.

It took me four months of job hunting obsessivly after graduating. I volunteered in an office doing work in my field, I joined all of the industry associations, attended conferences, networked, etc. I had people look over and revise my resume until it couldn’t be more perfect. After about three months and two interviews I was getting extremely frustrated, even applying for jobs I though I was over qualified for and never hearing a thing. Finally it happened though and all of the hard work paid off. It’s really hard for people to take a chance on someone with little experience, but while your looking, it’s a great opportunity to learn as much about the job as you can, meet people and do whatever it takes to get a leg up on the competition. There are a lot of job hunters out there so you have to be the most polished, the most prepared and the most confident before you will get hired.
Good luck! Be patient, it will happen.

I got my first job as I finished my bachelor reason, I was in contact with the offices while I was studying it helps one to know about office culture and people like fresh graduates for new projects.
