Instead of a polo, you should wear a plain colored button down shirt. If it’s too hot, wear a short sleeved one. It will look more business-like. The khakis are fine.

Here in New York, when we “hit the pavement” looking for a job, it’s usually in a suit - usually dark in color either pants or a skirt suit is fine.
It depends also on what field of work you are looking in. If you are looking for an office job, I would wear the suit for sure, or at least a blazer.
Good luck!

I would try dressing up a bit. Not a suit but some nice slaks with a pretty dressy blouse. Depending on where you go you might won’t to dress down. If it is somewhere casual you migt won’t to try a pretty blouse with some nice jeans. But make sure they are not cut up jeans with the holes. Good Luck with your job hunting!

If your only going for a casual type job as in not in an office or anything proffesional i would say just some black pants or dark jeans(no holes!) a polo or long sleeved shirt would be great too in any colour( white or black is a good option though) and just some flats or dark shoes that match the pants.
If your going for a more proffesional job a long sleeved shirt and a black or grey pencil skirt or pants and heels(only put on when you get there though!)

Typical Dress for a job interview:
1- No more than 2 pieces of jewerly (wheter it be a watch and a necklace), or a necklace and a braclet.
2- Stud earings, and if you must wear dangled earrings make sure that they are no more than 1/2 inch
3- White blouse
4- Black/Navy/or Nuetral color pants or skirt
5- Always wear hose (even under pants-this will bring you all together underneath), but make sure that the shoes you wear match your pants or skirt and the hose do to.
6- A little lip gloss for color, a little blush for glow, and very light mascara

depends on what type of job you are seeking. if you are looking for a job in fast food, then a clean, pressed polo and clean, pressed khakis and closed-toe shoes would be fine. make sure that you are neatly groomed (it’s important in food-service).
if you are going after an office job, then a pant-suit or a skirted suit might be more appropriate. with the pant-suit, trouser socks and sensible dress shoes would be acceptable, but with a skirted suit, stockings and a garter belt (or pantihose) with sensible dress shoes would be better.
if you’re going for a warehouse job, khakis and polo shirt would be fine, too. be prepared to wear jeans and boots to work at this job if you get it.
as for grooming, face: clean, freshly washed, light make-up conservatively applied; hair: clean, freshly washed, styled in a no-nonsense fashion; hands: clean, nails trimmed, light or neutral nail enamel if you wear any
other preparations: carry at least TWO pens with you (be prepared — employers tend to notice if you’re not); print out copies of your resume and carry these in a folder to keep them from getting wrinkled; in your wallet be sure that you have your DL or ID and your Social Security (SSAN) Card, money for the pay-phone and/or the bus (just in case), a comb to fix your hair; put your cell-phone (if you have one) ON SILENT so it doesn’t interrupt the employer if you get asked to stay for an interview; mints for your breath if you have lunch while out pounding the pavement.

Hey Grace C, I used to spend ages agonising my wardrobe too when I was looking for a job
It really depends on what kind of job you are looking for. Pants and a nice top is your best bet and bring a nice jacket that you can slip on just before meeting the interviewee. Wear natural make-up and make sure everything is smart and neat, like no frayed cuffs, etc. My one basic for job interviews used to be a slim-fitting navy jacket that immediately made anything I wore look professional.
