Is finding a job as a dentist easy right out of school?

Finding a job
Tyler asked:

Do dentists that just got out of medschool or whatever find jobs easily and do they make as much as they say on internet or is that salary mainly for dentists with their own business?

Create a video blog…instantly.

“Work environment. Most dentists are solo practitioners, meaning that they own their own businesses and work alone or with a small staff. Some dentists have partners, and a few work for other dentists as associate dentists.”

That’s from the federal government’s Occupational Outlook Handbook and the info will help address your other questions.

We need dentists, certain specialties more than others AND certain areas more than others, so if you’re flexible about where you live and what you do, you can certainly do well as a dentist. You’ll want to stay on top of the MANY advances in dentistry–so many things now that limit pain, allow for things like a crown in ONE office visit (they do a computer scan of tooth that needs crown and if they bought the super expensive equipment can mill the porcelain crown right there in minutes and apply). A lot of cosmetic dentistry as well.

Typically, a dentist right out of school will either work for another dentist or work with the county or state at institutions. After some good years of experience they usually open their own office.
