Why is finding a job today so difficult?

Finding a job
Jaime S asked:

I’ve been unemployed for awhile and I’m 21, discouraged, and desperate in finding a job. I work at a cafe at the school I go to, but I’m not getting enough hours or money. They provide no business over the summer, and so I’m out of a job untill the end of August. I’ve been searching and applying like crazy at local stores and even some downtown areas.. I know eventually I will hear back from someone, but it’s bothering me that nothing is happining soon.
Is the economy really bad these days? How many people here in the United States are un-employed?

The econony has a trickle down effect. Everything costs more. It costs more for employers to have their goods and supplies shipped in. It costs more to heat and cool the building and to keep the lights on. Healthcare and other benefits are through the roof. Employers want to get by with the fewest amount of workers that they can to keep a decent profit margin. Therefore, they cannot afford or unwilling to risk another employee and their salary.

The economy has slowed down considerably but for younger people, the summer is especially difficult because of competition since most young people are also out there looking as well. Try a temp agency or two since you might get something since it’s in their interest to get you working somewhere and collect their commission.

Don’t be discouraged, whatever happens, We are in a depression like the 30 ties. A lot of people out of work, and more joining the unemployment, housing foreclosures, banks closing their doors, the fourth largest bank in the US lost 8.9 billion dollars and are laying off 6 thousand and some workers. Greed and the removal of all price controls contribute to inflation that cannot be controlled. Our republican government should and will take the blame for this recession, it always happens when the Republicans are in control of this country. Things will get much worse before they get better. Roosevelt is dead, so who can get us out of this mess?

It is really hard finding a job right now. Employers are getting a lot of applications and resumes, so there taking there time or are overwhelmed. I think the economy is far worse than what there saying. The unemployment numbers don’t count the people who aren’t getting unemployment money anymore, they just fall off the roles. You will find a job though, don’t give up and good luck!
