For people that are or have experience as a paralegal. I am at a four year university but I am considering going to a community college to be a paralegal and then transferring to get my bachelors degree. Did you find a job and do you like it? What is the salary like?

    There’s a glut of lawyers, many of which are unemployed. Most law firms in my area will hire a lawyer at a paralegal salary rather than hire a para - the lawyer can actually be sent to court.

    It’s a loser profession for most people.

    Warning: Jobs in the field of Law are drying up FAST!!! This is not a good field to invest in right now!!! Reasons: very bad economy, we simply have WAY TOO MANY attorneys right now (and many attorneys today have to settle working as paralegals because they can’t find jobs), many people today (mistakenly) think they can do their own legal work thanks to the WWWeb, there are WAY TOO MANY law schools today (and this includes for legal support professionals such as paralegals) churning out WAY TOO MANY graduates for the demand and economy (but the law schools won’t tell you this - law students are easy money).

    Even if you make it through school, you probably won’t be able to find a job. Or you’ll be underemployed, for example as a Legal Secretary.

    IF you do find a job, you will discover that the law office environment: is very political and competitive, they will work you to death, the attorney blame the things that go wrong on the staff instead of taking responsibility for what they did wrong. When everything is going smoothly in the office, the attorneys golf while the staff does all the work - the attorneys run in the office long enough to sign papers, take all the glory and money. Law office administrators typically do not care about the employees’ best interests - only about how to make more money for the partners.

    Suggestion: Go into the field of Healthcare!!!
