Anyone else facing a hard time finding a job?

Anyone else finding it very hard to find a job. After my worker comp injuries and move to a new city. I have found it extremely hard to get a job. I’ve been applying everywhere. Checking up on all my applications. Dressing up for interviews and I have yet to get anywhere for the last 5 months. They say the economy feels like it’s in a recession but I don’t know, maybe it’s just me?

tell me about it! I have applied to so many places however it’s been weeks and I have not gotten even one phone call! You can try though. That might be able to help! I think it’s more because of the “recession”. I doubt it’s you because hey! You are not the only one struggling to get a job! I totally understand what your going through!

I had my resume professionally rewritten and had three calls for interviews in one week. Be sure to highlight your computer skills - be really detailed on those. Also, dream big and apply for jobs that you might not think you are qualified for. Good Luck!!!!

I also had to job search recently. I found out something that I already knew: The big money is in sales positions. Unfortunately, not everything you can sell is necessarily a good product, and that ended up being a problem for me.
I applied to almost 100 different companies for either a management or sales team position. Some did not feel that I was right for them. Other times, I did not feel like it was the right job for me. I recently had 3 nice offers however, so all is well.
The reason that sales people get paid so much is because most people can’t take the constant rejection associated with most sales jobs. If you can, and you present yourself well, then you should consider sales (unless you already have an M.D. or a J.D.)
You should also inquire about possibilities with friends or family members. Just 3 weeks ago, I had 2 six-figure offers from sales companies, when one of my professional references called me up and hired me away from them. He told me that I should have gone to him right from the start, and that he didn’t realize that I was job hunting. He was right, I should have spoken with him at the beginning.
Look for sales team opportunities if you can, and check with friends and families. They might have something for you, or know about something, that you aren’t aware of.
Good luck to you.

It isn’t just you. I can’t find a new job to save my life. I don’t even get any calls back on the mass amounts of resumes I send out. You are getting interviews? dang I am not even getting a call back…sucks really bad, but I keep trying. hang in there.

I graduated in 2005 with a specialized associates degree (paralegal). Supposedly, they said, I would get a job within days or weeks of graduating. That did NOT happen! The best offer I got was part time @ $7 per hour.
Long story short it took me until Christmas of 2007 to find a real full time job with benefits and it has nothing to do with my degree. I sent my resume relentlessly for nearly two years before landing this job. I’m happy with it now but it wasn’t easy looking and waiting. Good Luck to you.

It’s you.
Yesterday someone asked a similar question about how she couldn’t find a job in Houston because she didn’t have any experience.
So I searched Y! HotJobs, and found 1250 jobs that all posted “0-1 years experience”
Is it a 6-figure salary? Probably not.
