What it’s like finding a job in Long Beach, CA?

I am curious to know what it’s like finding a job in Long Beach area. I am thinking of moving there. I need to know. Can anyone help me?
I know it can’t be easy because lets face it, its not easy anywhere but are there a lot of jobs to go around? And I mean jobs for a 20 year old college student because thats what I am. I would take anything really.

It depends on what kind of a job you’re looking for.
Long Beach isn’t much of a happening town any more. The only thing there is Long Beach State college.
It used to be Douglas aircraft was the main provider of jobs, but then Boeing took them over and moved most of the operations to Washington.
I grew up in Long Beach and had great times there, but it’s just not going on there any more. I’d look into other options if I were you.

My best friend has been looking for a job here for over 9 months with no luck. It’s gotten to the point where she is even applying at fast food and waitressing jobs and still no luck.
Her background is dental/medical front and back office but she doesn’t speak Spanish so she’s not even considered.
If you have engineering, technical, math or an environmental background than finding work will be a tad bit easier.
California ranks in the bottom 10 worst states to look for a job. Our cost of living is still very high and if you are only qualified for a McJob you will find life here to be very difficult.
